My week

Still no home, seen heaps of places and this is now officially driving me nuts.... one guy had the creepiest ginger eyebrows I have ever seen. Another place had a bathroom were the roof was so mouldy and about to collapse, the guy reassured me by saying... ' oh that's ok, just don't look up' cause that makes me feel 100 times better. Saw a wicked place but the people were 100 years old and didn't want any noise which equals no fun. There were a few places on estates with kids shooting up, a few that smelt like wet socks so basically no luck.
Got caught in a massive thunder storm with my buddy so had to stay in the pub till it passed and got rather boozed till the last train came to take me away, the hangover the next day was horrendous. Its been crazy summer weather, its not cold but that rain is chunky. Note to self, don't go out of the house without an umbrella.

On a scarier note - there was a car bomb found just around the corner from my work. They closed the underground in peak hour and the city was just nuts and everyone walking around cause the transport system was shut down for the whole day. So in times of crisis what do the English do...drink. The pubs were packed cause no one could get out of central London so they just got pissed.
It was assistants last day , he is going to join the army...good luck. New assistant starts on Monday, she looks like a little Cameron Diaz, well has the same mouth. My boss promises me that he did not hire her cause she is hot but because he thinks she will actually be good so I will wait to see how long she sticks around for, the last one resigned the day after I stated...no coincidence at all!
I have decided the best thing about my job is the free breakfast, ever Friday they cater for the office and put on a wicked spread, there are bagels, bacon, eggs, crumpets, fresh juice, fresh salad and so much awesome stuff. Its the best way to start a Friday.

Got bargain tickets to see the Roots which will be unreal, they better play 'The Seed' otherwise I am walking out!

Looking for a home

I am trying to find a share house, its proving rather difficult. Getting a job was easy as pie but finding some where to live is slowly giving me the hump. Below is an email I just got from a place I went to see...

It was really nice to meet you the other day. You may already have found
somewhere else to live by now, but I just wanted to let you know that our
room has now been taken. It was a very difficult decision and we both
thought you'd make a great flatmate. I hope you find a fantastic place to
live, which I'm sure you will.
Good luck and take care,
Matt

This is confusing, if you think I am so great, then why not let me move in?
These people were total nerds but I was going to ignore that because the place had a bath tub and I have not been in a bath tub for about 6 months. Nerds.

7 day itch

Its a girls birthday today at my new job and they were passing around an envelope for a collection for her birthday gift. So I have never been a fan of the office collection, and have been known to be very stingy but I was surprised I was asked to contribute cause to be honest I don't even know who she is. Reluctantly I put in, it was a tiny amount but at least it made noise when it dropped in the envelope so it looked like I was contributing.
Now I don't want to rock the boat but as soon as my three months are up I am saying something, I can't go on putting in for gifts, there are 150 peeps in this company!!!

First week of work

It has been really good, getting the hang of waking up early again.
I have been taken to lunch twice at fancy French restaurants, got a bottle of perfume from my client, went to party and got boozed and feed for free and took home 26 magazines.
Only bad thing...my assistant quit on my second day, honestly I was nice to him he just couldn't handle the pressure - loser.

Still have no home to call my own, seen 1004 crack dens and 28 brothels but nothing that I really liked so still doing that which is boring.
London goss, apparently Madonna's marriage is seriously on the rocks and Guy Ritchie sleeps around.

First day at work

I haven't had a first day in a few years, I had forgotten how hard it is trying to remember where the toilets are when its such a massive building and every ones names when you are introduced to about 120 people.
Everyone is very nice and I have a wicked desk - window seat with a ok view over Leicester Square
Only bad part of the day was when they took my photo and asked me to fill out a questionnaire tittled 'tell us about you'.
It had questions like...What is your favorite book? Best advice you have been given? What is your favorite song? Why do you want to work here?
Then my photo and answers where sent around the whole company to introduce me...the hardest question was one of those finish this sentence kind of things.
'You should never.....' I had to get my answers back to the HR girl before lunch so I put...'Drink orange juice after brushing your teeth.'

You haven't made it when...

You are an actor on Home & Away for about 2 years, then you get to London and get the tube on a Saturday and nobody recognises you.
I saw the guy that plays Dani Sutherland's dad yesterday on the tube in Camden. About 20,000 people around and no one knew who he was. And he is creepier looking in real life and he had a really old beet up suitcase.

I want to know what love is...

Just got back from a trip to Portugal and Spain...needed to get a bit more in before I start work....yep I got a job at MPG, starting in mid June. Its a Media Agency like I did in Sydney and I am working on Luxury fragrance and booze. Its a awesome location, in the West End, there is a roof terrace that over looks the city and there are about 150 peeps in the agency and a few good lookers to boot...

So Portugal was good, Lisbon is unreal and they defo were not kidding when they said it was hilly, Porto was a bit so so ,it is home of Nando's and Chicken, not much else, just heaps of old people but my hostel was more like a 5 star hotel, best 15 euros I ever spent.
Then flew over to Madrid, a plane ticket including tax was 9 euros, so that's cheaper and hours quicker than the train. I booked a hostel in the gay part of town...I went for a walk and thought to myself...hmmm there are lots of good looking men here and only men and rainbow flags...didn´t take me long after that to figure it out.
Then train to Valencia , which was awesome, stayed in a great hostel and walked all over town it was a good 30 degrees most of the time so hit the beach and the markets. Went out with some girls from the hostel and got boozed on Sangria.
Train to Zaragoza. What can I say, that is 24hours of my life I will never get back. What a dump, next!
Train to San Sebastian, I've heard great things about this place and it didn't disappoint, its possible my favorite place so far but I say that about everything now. Just a wicked beach town with heaps of bars and clubs and the people are great and there is awesome food and drinks galore.
Stayed in a unreal hostel and meet some great people, first night went out to a few bars and clubs then second night started with a few quite drinks then the owners took the whole hostel out dancing which went on till the wee hours. In the days just hung out at the beach, went for a hike up the Jesus hill and to the top of some other mountain which was a struggle with my filthy hangover but the views were worth it.
Then Bilboa to see the Guggenheim, I have seen 2 now, so 2 more to do and I am Guggenheimed out!
So Spain was great, I really like the place and I am slowly getting the language basics, there is still more I want to see, more south and the coast so going to start planning that trip soon.

I've caught up with a few more friends, and friends of friends, had a few random nights out. Including the 'Eurovison' song contest night, went and saw Chris Cornell at the Astoria.
Went down to Brighton to see my Aunt and had some friends of friends having a party down there so hung out for a weekend which was good, its so different to London and that pebble beach is just odd.

So next on the 'to do' list is find a place to live which will be interesting.

Also, the group emails are coming to an end,I am going to post things on my blog from know on as I think I will be sitting still for a while, well at a desk anyway. There is my back catalogue of travels on there as well and ill be bloggin about day to day stuff and my going on's in London.

Oh and the song title.....this song is following me every where, buskers in Lisbon were singing it, I heard it in Madrid , I heard it in Valencia, San Sebastian and about 7 times in London so far. Its a favorite but really, I do want to know, so if any one has the answer can you please show me.

Peace outxx
